Gran Rapids isn’t a reference to a place, but more of a description of a style and sound. Mixing crisp, high quality production, with a loud, quick and confident style of lyricism, Leach and Jay Battle have managed to develop a sound that is uniquely their own. Something that is very rare in the age of todays over-saturated hip-hop marketplace.
For the past year Gran Rapids has spent their time carefully crafting a record that is both an emotionally honest portrayal of their lives, as well as a calculated blend of the musical inspirations that have guided them thus far. Their newest album in over 3 years, (Set for release this spring) was produced and recorded entirely at their home studio on Beacon Hill by Gran Rapids very own “Jay Battle”.
